MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – The Metallopolymer Systems Mechanics Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Energy Research Institute of the Shandong Academy of Sciences will set up a joint research lab. The relevant agreement was signed as a Chinese delegation visited the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on 12 September, BelTA has learned.
According to Sergei Chizhik, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the lab will focus on polymeric composite materials. The project has become possible thanks to many years of cooperation. The Chinese side drew attention to the value of Belarusian R&D products in this field. The Chinese side is primarily interested in thermal-resistant all-weather materials that can be used as part of railways. The lab will employ 30-40 scientists from the Belarusian side.
Another four agreements between research institutions of Belarus and the Shandong Province Academy of Sciences were signed at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on 12 September. In line with these documents the Energy Research Institute of the Shandong Academy of Sciences intends to cooperate with the center for LED and optoelectronic technologies of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus while the Heat and Mass Transfer Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the New Materials Institute of the Shandong Academy of Sciences have agreed to implement a joint project.
The Shandong Academy of Sciences and the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR) signed an agreement on developing and manufacturing micro electric motors of the MEMS variety and on transferring engineering achievements. The university and the Chinese academy will also work together to research a diffusing sound model on the basis of aquatone printing of radio frequencies. Methods to evaluate the quality and technique of probing illegal devices using electromagnetic analysis will be researched.
Wang Yinglong, President of the Shandong Academy of Sciences, noted that the Chinese side is most interested in new materials, information technologies, and power engineering. “Today we’ve signed five agreements on cooperation in these fields,” he specified.
A delegation of China’s Shandong Province led by Governor Gong Zheng visited the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) on 12 September. The purpose of the visit was to discuss promising avenues and mechanisms of advancing cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Shandong Academy of Sciences. Members of the delegation visited a number of NASB’s scientific organizations, including the applied science center for agriculture mechanization, the applied science center for materials science, the informatics institute, and other ones.
