MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian car manufacturer SZAO BelGee is busy increasing the rate of manufacturing localization, BelTA learned from BelGee Director General Gennady Svidersky as a new BelGee showroom was opened in Minsk.
The production of large-size plastic parts – bumpers – began in September. “We continue working. We intend to fully localize the production of seats,” Gennady Svidersky said. The relevant negotiations are in progress with partners. “There is a number of other components as well. For instance, we are working on software to offer the options that are appropriate for our market: simpler navigation, more functions.”
Speaking about the expansion of production, the SZAO BelGee director general drew attention to long-term goals and operational goals. The current tasks include the modernization of the assembly line, the welding shop, the installation of a new automated test line, and the expansion of logistical and assembly capabilities.
“We focus on using more up-to-date equipment taking into account requirements of the time and on increasing the output capacity. The factory was initially designed to make 60,000 cars but raising it to 120,000 is part of the design. We are working towards that. Moreover, space has been reserved for setting up a stamping facility. We are looking into the processes involved. The current stage – the next three years – will see an enhanced program on manufacturing localization and constant modernization,” Gennady Svidersky noted.
