MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian car manufacturing company SZAO BelGee intends to make cars compliant with Euro-6 emissions standard. The company intends to unveil the first such car in 2020, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Industry Minister Gennady Svidersky at a press conference on 25 September.
The official said: “Two options are available. On the one hand, we can reequip a car to use natural gas and it will be compliant with Euro-6 requirements. And there are models that use engines compliant with Euro-6 requirements. BelGee is expected to modernize its Atlas model up to the Euro-6 level next year.” In particular, such products may be in demand in Balkan countries.
At present BelGee makes cars, which are compliant with the Euro-5 emissions standard. The company makes three models in 28 modifications (180 modifications taking into account the available colors). The top seller on the Belarusian market is the Atlas model (half of the sales). The share of Emgrand X7 stands at 30%, with the share of Emgrand 7 at 20%.
“We have yet to address a number of issues from the point of view of renewing the model range and from the point of view of aftersales service,” Gennady Svidersky said.
In his words, the dealership network is audited every quarter. A system has been established to control and evaluate the quality of customer service. Customers can dial 138 for information inquiries. Work with the mobile carrier MTS is nearly finished. Cars to be shipped as from 2020 will have SIM cards and support music and navigation apps.
In line with the technical plan the company is supposed to make a preproduction batch of the new model Geely SX11. The model has been designed by Geely in association with Volvo using a brand new modular platform and boasts sport exterior and interior. The executive-class sedan Geely GE is another new model.
The BelGee car factory was officially opened on 17 November 2017. The new enterprise is located between Borisov and Zhodino and occupies 118ha. Belarus-made Geely cars are certified for compliance with technical regulations of the Customs Union and have been tested using EuroNCAP methods (frontal impact, side impact, and other kinds).
