Belarusian ambassador, Minsk Oblast governor visit Leningrad Oblast of Russia

MOSCOW, 14 December (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation headed by Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoi and Minsk Oblast Governor Aleksandr Turchin are visiting Leningrad Oblast of Russia on 14-15 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the diplomatic mission.
The first item on the agenda was a meeting with Leningrad Oblast Governor Aleksandr Drozdenko. "For us, this visit is extremely important not only from a business point of view, but also from a moral one. We really feel the support of our closest friend and partner - the Republic of Belarus. Thanks to our alliance, the enemies’ hopes to ruin our economies never came to pass. It is important to move forward and continue to develop cooperation and build on successes," Aleksandr Drozdenko emphasized.
He also noted that the region is experiencing a shortage of road equipment. The region has a particular interest in the Belarusian mechanical engineering company Amkodor. Now the road sector of Leningrad Oblast urgently needs 24 units of equipment. The Russian partners proposed to study the feasibility of implementing a joint project with Amkodor at the road equipment production facility in Tosno District.
"Leningrad Oblast has always been the top Russian region for Belarus in terms of trade, consistently ranking fifth-seventh among trading partners. Over the past two years, these figures have grown significantly. How quickly we move forward depends on how efficient our action plans are," Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi said at the meeting with Aleksandr Drozdenko.
"We traditionally cooperate in many areas with Leningrad Oblast. One of the most important is the agricultural industry. It is important that many new industries have emerged in the wake of sanctions. These include veterinary medicine, fish farming, seed production, more new varieties, both grain and perennial grasses,” the ambassador said.
"The agenda of cooperation is expanding. As soon as possibilities emerge in a new avenue, this is immediately reflected in the roadmap. We set out goals, deadlines and responsible officials. These are mechanical engineering, utilities, water treatment, water disposal, construction of joint facilities and much more. One can only rejoice at the palette of trade, economic and investment cooperation," Ambassador Dmitry Krutoi summed up.
Minsk Oblast Governor Aleksandr Turchin noted: "I have repeatedly said that a difficult time is a window of opportunity. We have a lot in common with Leningrad Oblast. Areas of cooperation are many, from education to economy." He stressed that cooperation with Leningrad Oblast is successful, but the current visit will give it even a greater momentum.
Following the meeting with the governor of Leningrad Oblast, the parties signed a number of documents, including a protocol to the agreement between the government of Leningrad Oblast and the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, a memorandum of cooperation between the culture and tourism committee of Leningrad Oblast and the central office for culture of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, a memorandum of cooperation between the committee for general and vocational education of Leningrad Oblast and the central office for education of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee. In addition, an agreement on cooperation in trade, economy, culture and other areas was concluded between the administration of the Lomonosov municipal district of Leningrad Oblast and the Smolevichi District Executive Committee.
