Belarus, Vladimir Oblast discuss cooperation plans

MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia’s Vladimir Oblast have significant reserves to keep growing bilateral trade, Belarus’ Deputy Economy Minister Sergei Mityansky said as he met with Director of the Agriculture and Food Department of the Vladimir Oblast Administration Konstantin Demidov, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

The meeting took place at the Economy Ministry and focused on cooperation in the agricultural industry. The parties reviewed progress in implementing the action plan to fulfill the agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical and socio-cultural cooperation between Belarus and Vladimir Oblast for 2021-2023.

Sergei Mityansky pointed to a significant increase in trade between Belarus and this Russian region. In January-April 2022, the bilateral trade exceeded $104 million, up 17.3% year-on-year.

“Increasing bilateral trade is essential for maintaining stability of our economies in the current conditions. Business contacts between our entrepreneurs are time-tested and there are significant reserves to keep growing the trade. Belarus, for its part, is ready to increase the export of agricultural products, tractors, combine harvesters, cars and other goods. We see that the potential is really big. The Made in Belarus brand has a well-deserved reputation among Russian consumers,” the deputy minister said.

The participants of the meeting discussed promising avenues of cooperation. The representative of Vladimir Oblast showed interest in Belarus’ expertise in breeding new varieties of agricultural crops. Training and retraining of agricultural personnel is another promising avenue of cooperation.

Konstantin Demidov confirmed plans of the Vladimir Oblast Administration to arrange an official visit of an extended delegation to Belarus in autumn.
