MINSK, 7 July (BelTA) – Trade between Belarus and Vietnam exceeded $200 million in 2021, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Vietnam Vladimir Borovikov said at the expert seminar “Pivot to Asia: Reality, Problems, Prospects”, BelTA has learned.

"Vietnam is a gateway to Southeast Asia for Belarus. Belarusian-Vietnamese cooperation has shown good dynamics: the trade exceeded $200 million in 2021, with exports and imports being on a parity basis," Ambassador Vladimir Borovikov said.

According to him, the new realities require flexibility and an unconventional approach to solving emerging problems. "Transformation of a high level of political trust and economic agreements into exports depends on competitiveness of manufacturers against the world's leading companies. The inherent potential of the Belarusian-Vietnamese cooperation provides an opportunity to build on the results we have already achieved and to meet the goals set by the head of state," he stressed.

The expert seminar “Pivot to Asia: Reality, Problems, Prospects” is organized by the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research and the National Center for Marketing and Price Study. The seminar is taking place within the framework of the analytical media project “Big Game 2.0 in Asia” and is timed to its first anniversary. Taking part in the seminar are top executives of the National Center for Marketing and Price Study, the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research, the Foreign Economic Affairs Agency, the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Administration of the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange and other organizations, as well as Belarusian diplomatic missions in key Asian countries.
