MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Uzbekistan Leonid Marinich met with Uzbek First Deputy Investments and Foreign Trade Minister Laziz Kudratov on 8 April, the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan told BelTA.
Leonid Marinich and Laziz Kudratov shared information about results of Belarus-Uzbekistan trade and economic cooperation in 2021 and in early 2022. Interest in stepping up mutual trade and giving an additional impulse to the manufacturing cooperation projects the sides are implementing was stressed.
Apart from that, forthcoming bilateral events at the level of the leadership of the governments and the business circles of Belarus and Uzbekistan were discussed.
In 2021 Belarus-Uzbekistan trade totaled $301.9 million, 7.8% up from 2020, with export at $245.4 million (3.3% up) and import at $56.5 million (32.5% up). Belarus secured a foreign trade surplus of $188.9 million. In January-February 2022 Belarus-Uzbekistan trade totaled $53.5 million, 9.9% up from the same period of last year.
