Belarus, Uzbekistan to hold women’s business forum in 2023

MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) – A business forum for women of Belarus and Uzbekistan will take place in Belarus in 2023, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova told the media after a meeting on international cooperation with representatives of the Belarusian Women’s Union on 20 December, BelTA has learned.
The initiative to organize a business forum was voiced during the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS countries in Samarkand in late October. “Quite recently I attended the session of the CIS IPA in Uzbekistan, where I had bilateral meetings, including with my counterpart from Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva. She was the first to voice the idea of holding a business forum for women from Belarus and Uzbekistan. It is a great initiative. We can have very close cooperation with Uzbekistan. They live up to our good relations and respect our President Aleksandr Lukashenko,” Natalya Kochanova said.
According to her, plans are in place to hold the forum in the first quarter of 2023. “The women of Uzbekistan will be able to get better familiar with our country, because there is a great distance between our countries. Visits at the highest level have become commonplace: the president has visited Uzbekistan, and the government is closely cooperating with the government of Uzbekistan. Now we are making efforts to provide our people with a chance of better communication with each other. We also have plans to sign contracts and agreements to boost cooperation. The program of the forum will include sections at the Belarusian enterprises of light industry, agriculture, healthcare, education and other important areas,” the speaker said.
Natalya Kochanova emphasized that Belarusian women have a certain similarity in mentality with Uzbek women. “First of all, we are united by kindness and love for our countries. The relations resting on such a base should be definitely preserved and developed both in the line of friendship and in the line of economy and business,” the chairperson of the Council of the Republic stressed.
“The Belarus-Uzbekistan Women's Business Forum will be a serious step in the direction of cooperation between the two countries as well as between non-governmental organizations, first of all, women's ones. It is simply impossible to overestimate the significance of public associations,” Natalya Kochanova said.
