TASHKENT, 8 February (BelTA) – A package of cooperation documents was signed following the talks between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent on 8 February, BelTA has learned.
One of the key documents was the 2024-2025 action plan (road map) to promote bilateral cooperation. The document was signed by Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev.
Leonid Zayats told reporters the day before that the road map features almost a hundred projects worth more than $1 billion. They are to be implemented in the next two years. This includes product supplies and the creation of joint production facilities.
The two countries signed an intergovernmental agreement on the use of electronic systems for certification of the origin of goods. The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of Belarus and the Competition Promotion and Consumer Protection Committee of Uzbekistan signed a cooperation agreement in the field of competition, consumer rights protection and regulation of the advertising market. A protocol on cooperation in the field of intellectual property was also inked.
The parties signed an agreement on cooperation in science and manufacturing, a roadmap to promote cooperation in agriculture for 2024-2026, and a joint action plan to integrate information systems in the field of plant quarantine. Cooperation programs in culture and art, sports and tourism, as well as education were passed.
Minsk and Tashkent signed an agreement to establish sister city relations.
