Belarus, Uzbekistan discuss prospects for expanding cooperation

MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Uzbekistan Leonid Marinich held a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, BelTA learned from the Belarusian foreign mission in Tashkent.

The parties discussed the state of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan and exchanged views on promising areas for expanding cooperation in such areas as agriculture, industry and pharmaceuticals.

The parties also reviewed the approaches of Belarus and Uzbekistan to the joint and investment projects, including within the framework of interregional cooperation.

Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan were established on 21 January 1993. The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Uzbekistan was opened in February 1994. The Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Belarus began its work in March 2018.
