MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the UK Sergei Aleinik met with UK Minister of State for Trade and Investment Greg Hands to discuss the diversification of exports and investment, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The parties discussed the key issues in the development of trade, economic, and sci-tech cooperation, the expansion of cooperation between the UK Department for International Trade and the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The UK is one of Belarus’ top five trading partners with the total trade turnover of $2.65 billion in 2017 (up 114.4%). The exports from Belarus made up $2.4 billion (up 123%), the imports - $249 million (up 56.4%). The UK is second biggest investor in the Belarusian economy with the total investment of $2.6 billion in 2017.
