MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) - Belarus and the United Arab Emirates held the second web-based round of negotiations on a draft intergovernmental agreement on trade in services and investment, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.
Taking part in the negotiations were experts from the Economy Ministry, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Following the second round, the text of the draft agreement is in a high degree of readiness. A discussion was held on the chapters: Trade in Services, Investment Promotion, Settlement of Disputes, and Final Clauses. The Administration of the Agreement chapter has been fully agreed.
Negotiations began on specific parameters of access to selected services sectors as part of the discussion on trade in services. The parties discussed initial proposals on market access and exchanged comments regarding the sectors of mutual interest.
In the course of the discussion of the Investment Promotion chapter, a substantive discussion was initiated on the expediency of updating the existing agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments of 2000.
