MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) - Promising joint projects in banking, agriculture, construction, energy and woodworking were high on the agenda of a meeting between Belarus’ First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin and representatives of the business community of the United Arab Emirates, BelTA learned from the government.
According to Aleksandr Turchin, the countries and business communities have something to offer each other. Belarus’ advantageous location and membership in the EAEU make it an effective export channel to Russia and Western Europe. The UAE, in turn, is the gateway to the markets of Asia and Africa. “We reaffirm our interest in cooperation in areas such as banking and finance, oil refining and oil production, energy, agriculture and food, feed production, construction and woodworking,” the first vice premier said.
Promising areas of cooperation also include the manufacture food products with the possibility of exporting to the UAE, the participation of an Emirati bank as a shareholder or partner for Belarusian financial institutions, setting up furniture production facilities.
“I am sure that this first meeting will not be our last. I think that during the negotiations we will come up with other topics of possible mutually beneficial cooperation. Any of your suggestions and wishes will be carefully considered. I think we will find an opportunity to implement them all,” Aleksandr Turchin said.
The head of the delegation Abu Ala Al-Nuaimi assured that the countries will actively work to increase the volume of mutual trade.
The delegation included representatives of the UAE government and large companies, such as Elite Agro, First Abu Dhabi Bank, Senaat General Holding Corporation, International Holdings Company.
