Belarus, Turkmenistan working together to make flying drones

MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkmenistan are working together to implement a high-tech project for starting the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in Turkmenistan. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement during expanded-participation negotiations with Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on 11 May, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed: “Our countries have secured tangible accomplishments in R&D cooperation. The high-tech project for starting the production of unmanned aerial vehicles in Turkmenistan is being jointly implemented. We suggest putting more efforts into this area.” The head of state reminded that a new UAV lineup was demonstrated during the Belarusian national expo in Ashgabat in December 2015.

According to the President, the potential of joint projects in the area of computer technologies has not been fully explored yet and represents a promising reserve of scientific and technical cooperation. Belarusian IT companies are ready to continue introducing modern technologies in various industries. The choice includes electronic document management systems, systems to control the payment for passage in urban passenger transport, and the inventorying of Ashgabat’s housing stock.
