MINSK, 5 December (BelTA) – Belarus’ State Committee on Science and Technology and Turkey’s Ministry of Industry and Technology will hold a contest of joint innovative projects in Q1 2019. The preparation for the contest was discussed by Chairman of Belarus’ State Science and Technology Committee Alexander Shumilin and Ambassador of Turkey to Belarus Kezban Nilvana Darama, BelTA has learned from the press service of the State Committee on Science and Technology.
Applications will be accepted by the Belarusian Innovation Fund and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey. Joint projects will cut across many research disciplines, including nano- and biotechnology, space research and supercomputers.
The parties agreed to step up bilateral cooperation between tech parks of Belarus and research facilities of Turkey.
The agreement on sci-tech cooperation was signed by the governments of Belarus and Turkey in 2016 and came into force on 8 June 2017. In 2017 a memorandum of understanding was signed between Belarus’ National Center of Intellectual Property and the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. The Belarusian Innovation Fund signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey. The first session of the Belarus-Turkey commission for sci-tech cooperation took place on 5 November 2018.
