MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) - In 2023 the surplus of Belarus’ foreign trade in goods and services amounted to $480.7 million. Meanwhile, Belarus’ foreign trade rose by 6.8% from 2022 to exceed $95 billion, BelTA learned from the website of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).

In 2023 Belarus had a deficit of the foreign trade in merchandise as large as $2.4 billion. In 2023 merchandise import totaled $41.7 billion, with export at $39.4 billion. In December 2023 its deficit stood at $532.5 million, contracting by 13.7% as compared to December 2022.

The deficit of Belarus’ foreign trade in merchandise was offset by a surplus of foreign trade in services as large as $2.8 billion in 2023. The surplus of foreign trade in services improved for the second consecutive month to $274.1 million in December 2023. Belarus exported $8.5 billion and imported $5.7 billion worth of services in 2023.
