The Minister remarked that the Belarusian pharmaceutical industry adds new medications to its product choice every year. This year as many as 140 medications will be added.
The official stressed that Belarus-made medications are identical to imports in all parameters and are available at lower prices. The average weighted price for a Belarus-made pack is $1.36 while an imported pack costs $4.72, noted the Minister. Meanwhile, the Healthcare Ministry is concerned about people resorting to medications without a good reason and intends to take measures to fix the problem.
Vasily Zharko reminded that the share of Belarus-made medications on the home market is supposed to reach 50% in 2015. The goal was once set by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. In 2014 Belarus-made medications accounted for 37.6% of the market in money terms. Investment projects are being implemented. The industry’s modernization program envisages 35 projects, with 12 of them already implemented. Another 11 will be implemented this year. It will increase the output and will provide both drugstores and hospitals with medications, noted Vasily Zharko.
