Belarus to ship more tractors to Pakistan

MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) – Belarus intends to ship many more tractors to Pakistan, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister Dmitry Korchik.

“We plan to seriously increase the amount of tractors shipped to Pakistan,” said Dmitry Korchik. The Belarusian mechanical engineering company OAO Amkodor has signed an agreement of intent to buy a 50% share in the Pakistani company Fecto Belarus Tractors Limited. Plans have been made to manufacture road construction machines, agricultural machines, including tractors, said the official.

A Pakistani delegation led by Minister for Industries and Production Khan Jatoi is in Belarus on a visit. The visit has been organized taking into account the need to raise Belarus-Pakistan trade to $1 billion. “We have signed a cooperation roadmap. The delegation was invited as part of the efforts to implement the roadmap,” said Dmitry Korchik.

The official said that members of the Pakistani delegation had been made familiar with capabilities of the Belarusian production sector and had visited several major enterprises. “As for MAZ, BelAZ, and Amkodor, we are looking for serious partners to develop the business. We see interest in it. Pakistani businessmen were also interested in Atlant household appliances,” explained the Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister.
