Belarus to relaunch its assembly plants in Venezuela soon

MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) - Belarus is going to relaunch its assembly plants in Venezuela soon, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik told reporters following the talks with Venezuelan counterpart Yvan Gil Pinto in Minsk on 16 October, BelTA has learned.

During the talks, the parties paid priority attention to trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Venezuela. Now there is a certain decline in trade, which is associated with the sanctions. The two countries are working on finding mutually acceptable and mutually beneficial solutions that will allow resuming the important projects in the manufacturing sector, agriculture, and food, Sergei Aleinik said.

The most important topic at this stage is to relaunch the plants assembling Belarusian tractors and automotive vehicles in Venezuela.

"We have already held a number of meetings and negotiations on this issue and are very close to relaunching our assembly plants that were set up on the Venezuelan soil," Sergei Aleinik said.

Belarus also plans to export food to the Venezuelan market, to supply agricultural machinery directly. These issues should be resolved by the joint commission on trade and economic cooperation, which is scheduled to sit at the end of November.
