Belarus to present two pilot infrastructure projects at PPP Days in London

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian delegation will present two pilot infrastructure projects during the forum PPP Days in London, the press service of the Belarusian Economy Ministry told BelTA.

The forum is scheduled to take place on 16-18 June. This year participants will be granted a unique opportunity to present one or two infrastructure projects on behalf of developing nations before the world’s leading investors. Belarus is going to present two pilot infrastructure projects.

Belarus has been mentioned as one of the 16 countries that will be able to present their projects. Representatives of the Economy Ministry said that the projects are the reconstruction of a section of the M10 motorway and the construction of the Beshenkovichi hydropower plant (33MW, 130 million kWh) on the Zapadnaya Dvina River in Vitebsk Oblast. “As part of the country presentations their initiators are supposed to receive an independent and respected evaluation of the potential of the projects from the world’s leading investors in addition to being able to advertise the projects,” explained the press service.

The Belarusian delegation will be led by First Deputy Economy Minister Alexander Zaborovsky. The delegation also includes First Deputy Finance Minister Maxim Yermolovich, Deputy Transport Minister Alexei Avramenko and Deputy Energy Minister Vadim Zakrevsky. The delegations will present information about what public private partnership projects the country has chosen, how the government views cooperation with the private partner within the framework of the projects, how revenues and risks will be distributed, and will answer a number of other questions. The participation of the Belarusian delegation in the forum is an important step on the way of implementation of pilot public private partnership projects. By taking part in the forum Belarus will be able to get unique experience, get familiar with projects in the area of infrastructure development in other countries, and will be able to establish business contacts with potential investors.

The international forum PPP Days 2015 will take place in the headquarters of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on 16-18 June. The event has been organized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in association with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the European Investment Bank. The main theme of the event is: “What would it take to double the right private investment in infrastructure in emerging markets?” The PPP Days forum has been held since 2006.
