MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – Plans to defend Belarus have been worked out. Additional weapons will be delivered from Russia soon. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement after casting his vote during the referendum on amending and expanding the country’s Constitution, BelTA has learned.
According to the head of state, the troops are in their barracks in their permanent bases. If necessary, they will be ready to respond to any challenges within hours and deliver unacceptable damage to the enemy.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “We are acting in a very civil and delicate manner. Even in this acute period when we understand that [foreign troops] are amassing [in neighboring countries], we have not moved our troops from their permanent stations. They are still in the barracks. But they are ready to deploy within three hours when ordered to. I have not given such an order and there is no need for it.”
“But plans to defend Belarus have been worked out. We already know what additional hardware we need. Soon Putin and I will come to terms and will get the relevant additional weapons delivered here from Russia. It will be able to deliver such unacceptable damage that neither Poles nor Lithuanians would want to be at war with us,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
