Belarus to debut at Food & Hospitality Oman

MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) - Belarus will debut in Food & Hospitality Oman due on 16-18 October 2017 with a Made in Belarus exposition, BelTA learned from the organizers.

Belarusian specialists will also attend a Belarusian-Omani Business Council meeting.

“With the rapid growth of food production sectors, hotel and tourist businesses in Oman and in the entire Middle East, food production remains a problem. Oman annually imports $30 billion of products. Consumer goods and food account for up to 50% of total imports. Oman is particularly interested in the supply of meat, poultry, eggs and dairy products: skimmed and dried whole milk, butter, powdered whey, cheese,” the organizers said.

Since the beginning of 2017 Belarus has exported more than 800 tonnes of milk in excess of $1 million to the Arabian Peninsula, but the real demand for dairy products is much higher. According to experts, Oman is interested in setting up joint food production and promoting foodstuffs in the Eurasian Economic Union and Gulf countries.

“One of Oman’s key objectives is to enhance food security. Oman shows a great interest in the Belarusian agriculture with a view of investing in this sector. Food products can be supplied to Oman and neighboring countries. They are interested in our technology in industry and agriculture, and a number of products we manufacture,” said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Egypt and concurrently to Oman, Algeria and Sudan Sergei Rachkov.

The Made in Belarus exposition has been organized by Belinterexpo company affiliated with the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the assistance of the Embassy of Belarus in Egypt.

Food & Hospitality Oman is an international trade exhibition that serves as a business and networking platform for companies and industry stakeholders to promote the latest products and services in the food and beverage, agriculture and fisheries, food processing technologies, kitchen and catering equipment, hotel supplies and equipment, and restaurant and cafe segments.

In 2016 the expo featured 128 companies form 21 countries.
