MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – An estimated 537,100 tonnes of corn has been threshed in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 3 October, some 7,955,000 tonnes of grain crops and rapeseed were cropped in Belarus. This included 6,914,300 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops as well as corn.
Harvesting of corn kernels is underway in all the oblasts of the country, with 68,600 hectares of land already cleared. Some 537,100 tonnes of corn kernels were threshed, with the yields averaging 78.3 centners per hectare.
Some 15,906,500 tonnes of corn for silage were cropped so far.
Brest Oblast, Grodno Oblast, Minsk Oblast and Gomel Oblast have completed buckwheat harvesting: 48,900 tonnes of buckwheat (yields are 14.5 centners per hectare) were threshed.
The flax straw harvest was completed in all the oblasts of the country.
Belarusian agricultural workers harvested 545,100 tonnes of potatoes. The yields average 350.8 centners per hectare.
Sugar beet harvesting is also in progress in Belarus. Some 1,560,000 tonnes of sugar beet were removed, with the yields standing at 454.7 centners per hectare.
Winter grain crops were sown on 1,226,600 hectares of land (79.8% of the plan).
