Belarus-Tatarstan trade now on the rise

MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – The volume of trade between Belarus and Russia’s Tatarstan has started rising thanks to the measures that have been taken. Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov made the statement as he met with Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, BelTA has learned.

Andrei Kobyakov said: “Unfortunately, in the last two years our trade turnover was declining due to some circumstances. Nevertheless, thanks to the measures we are taking, including our negotiations early this year and preparations for the visit, we are starting to stabilize our mutual trade turnover. Anyway, Belarus’ export to Tatarstan has increased a bit. It has happened thanks to our finding the points where we can work very actively on mutually beneficial terms.”

The Prime Minister remarked that Tatarstan is a reliable partner of Belarus among Russian regions. “Our cooperation has many components, it is diversified and is primarily based on manufacturing cooperation. We are very much inspired by the fact. It means that we can continue finding more and more points of mutual contact,” said the Belarusian head of government.

Andrei Kobyakov specified that the Belarusian mechanical engineering company OAO Amkodor closely cooperates with Tatarstan enterprises. The possibility of opening an enterprise in the region by the Belarusian lift equipment producer OAO Mogilevliftmash is under consideration.

“I think Tatarstan has the relevant proposals in this regard. We are ready to bring all our capabilities and work in this direction,” stressed Andrei Kobyakov.
