MINSK, 28 August (BelTA) – Belarus suggests setting up joint companies with Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said at a meeting with Governor of Astrakhan Oblast Alexander Zhilkin on 28 August, BelTA has learned.
According to Mikhail Myasnikovich, regional cooperation is the pillar of bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Russia. At the same time, he called the joint companies an instrument to develop it. The speaker made an emphasis on the development of joint ventures. “We need to run common business. For this we need to have joint companies, solid industrial cooperation, and investment projects,” he said and invited the governor of Astrakhan Oblast to discuss these issues.
The speaker is convinced that both the industrial cooperation and the corresponding financial flows should participate in integration cooperation.
The chairman of the Council of the Republic invited Alexander Zhilkin to attend the Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia, which is due in Mogilev on 10-12 October. The heads of state will traditionally take part in it.
In turn, the Russian governor agreed that the Belarusian and Russian mechanical engineering businesses need to cooperate, develop projects that will be competitive in the world market. He primarily specified utilities equipment, buses, and electric buses. The head of the Russian delegation mentioned the upcoming talks on MAZ on Tuesday. He stressed the readiness to set up joint ventures, including in Belarus.
Alexander Zhilkin explained that Astrakhan Oblast is ready to offer a package of opportunities for Belarus, taking into account the geographical location of the Russian region. Returning to the topic of joint ventures and industrial cooperation raised by Mikhail Myasnikovich, he suggested considering the possibilities of advancing Belarusian goods through the emerging comfortable conditions of interaction between the Caspian states.
