Belarus, South Korea discuss projects in municipal waste management

MINSK, 26 October (BelTA) – Experts of the Economy Ministry of Belarus and the National Agency of Investment and Privatization (NAIP) met with representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Belarus and DOHWA Engineering to discuss collaboration in improving municipal waste management in Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

At present, a project to draft a plan to improve municipal waste management in Minsk Oblast is being implemented in cooperation with the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI).  An executive cooperation agreement between KEITI and the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee is to be signed during the visit of the Korean delegation to Belarus.

NAIP showcased Belarus’ investment potential, while the Korean delegation presented promising joint initiatives in the field of waste management. The participants substantively discussed a short-term project of assistance for waste recycling in Soligorsk District of Minsk Oblast with a planned funding of $7 million and an implementation period of up to three years starting from 2023.
