Belarus shows interest in Pakistan infrastructure projects

MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) – Belarus shows interest in taking part in the infrastructure projects of Pakistan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Pakistan Andrei Yermolovich said in an interview to the Belarus One TV channel on 8 February, BelTA has learned.

According to Andrei Yermolovich, Pakistan with its 200-million population is a promising market. It is important to intensify business contacts, establish cooperation ties.

“Keeping in mind the positive dynamics of bilateral relations, there is every chance for the Belarusian equipment to be part of the implementation of ambitious infrastructure projects. Pakistan shows a big interest in setting up joint companies in cattle breeding. Baby food made in Belarus is in great demand. Textile production can be another promising area of cooperation. The pharmaceutical sector can also contribute to the growth of mutual trade. There are big prospects for BelAZ products to find the Pakistani market,” Andrei Yermolovich said.

In his words, the interregional cooperation also has a huge potential. The two countries have been developing cooperation in the education, cultural and sci-tech sectors, considering joint projects in agriculture (including efforts to increase the crop productivity) and medicine (including early detection of diabetes).

Belarus imports Pakistani rice, textile products, leather goods, vegetables, fruit, nuts and other products.
