Belarus sets quotas for foreign transport operators for 2016

MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – Belarus has determined how many permits foreign trucking companies will get in 2016. The Transport and Communications Ministry’s executive order No. 57 of 14 December 2015 was published by the national legal information website on 29 December, BelTA has learned.

Traffic passes will be issued to 45 nations. The number of truck permits issued to Georgia in 2016 will be increased in comparison with 2015 from 800 to 2,000. Other countries will get more as well. Azerbaijan will get 800 permits (up from 700), Bulgaria will take 6,700 (up from 6,300), Iran will receive 650 instead of 400. The number of permits granted to Lithuanian trucks will be reduced from 106,000 to 96,000. Armenia will be given 200 instead of 300 permits.

The number of truck passage permits will stay at the level of this year’s target for Ukraine (28,000 permits), Latvia (11,500), Poland (142,000), the UK (300). Jordan, Ireland, and Lebanon will be given 50 permits each. Cyprus will get 120.

The executive order will come into force on 1 January 2016.

The number of permits for the passage of foreign vehicles across Belarus is determined every year. The numbers can be adjusted during the year if necessary.
