Belarus set to strengthen industrial cooperation with Japan

MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in carrying out large-scale infrastructure and manufacturing projects in cooperation with Japan. The matter was discussed on 1 March during a meeting between Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov and Ambassador of Japan to Belarus Shigehiro Mimori whose diplomatic mission in Belarus is nearing completion, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Valentin Rybakov said that Belarus is interested in maintaining the fruitful dialogue with Japan, establishing stable and long-lasting economic ties with big Japanese companies and corporations, and implementing large-scale infrastructure and manufacturing projects.

The Belarusian diplomat pointed out that the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government agencies are currently working on Belarus’ national exposition for the international food and beverage trade show FOODEX JAPAN 2016 to be held in Tokyo on 7 to 9 March.

Valentin Rybakov thanked Shigehiro Mimori for more than four years of work in Belarus and for his contribution to the development of humanitarian and cultural cooperation between the two countries. The diplomat also expressed gratitude for the ambassador’s attention to the issues related to the management of the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident. Valentin Rybakov thanked the Japanese diplomat for the financial assistance program Grassroots implemented in Belarus.
