MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – Belarus has cooperated with Novosibirsk Oblast in the field of machine tools industry and microelectronics for a long time and sees prospects. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Piotr Parkhomchik made the statement as a delegation of Russia’s Novosibirsk Oblast visited the Belarusian haul truck manufacturer BelAZ, BelTA has learned.
A Novosibirsk Oblast delegation led by Governor Andrei Travnikov arrived in Belarus on 23 May on a working visit. Trips to the largest Belarusian mechanical engineering companies BelGee and BelAZ where the guests were made familiar with accomplishments of the Belarusian mechanical engineering industry and were informed about shipment options and cooperation opportunities were part of the itinerary.
Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Piotr Parkhomchik remarked: “Belarus and Novosibirsk Oblast have always tended to have good relations. And for decades at that. It is very important that we’ve established solid manufacturing cooperation. We use their components to make BelAZ trucks and other Belarusian machines and vehicles, including passenger vehicles. In turn, Russians buy these machines and vehicles from us. Shipments of Belarusian haul trucks to Novosibirsk Oblast in 2025-2026 are being discussed. By the way, Novosibirsk Oblast bought a lot of this kind of vehicles in 2022-2023.”
Belarus also cooperates in machine-tool building and microelectronics with Novosibirsk Oblast. Piotr Parkhomchik stressed that close contacts had been established, roadmaps had been developed and approved. The roadmaps allow securing economic benefits both for Belarus and Russia.
“We’ve been seeing progress in deliveries of passenger transport recently. The Novosibirsk Oblast delegation visited the car factory BelGee today for a reason. The governor spoke in positive terms and expressed serious insistence and interest with regard to the localization of production of certain components, which can be used to make cars,” Piotr Parkhomchik said.
According to the source, deliveries of passenger transport of Belarusian make to Novosibirsk Oblast are being discussed. Matters relating to domestic manufacturing cooperation and production of certain components Belarusian industrial enterprises need remain topical.
However, Belarus’ cooperation with Novosibirsk Oblast is not limited to heavy industry. Piotr Parkhomchik clarified that the Russian region buys a lot of Belarusian milk and derivative products. These foods represent a fair share of the mutual trade turnover.
“There are many cooperation areas. There are many growth points. Friendship between Belarus and Novosibirsk Oblast has been evolving for decades. It gives reasons to expect high results in the future,” Piotr Parkhomchik concluded.
