MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Belarus wants to obtain the right to export potatoes, beef and poultry to the European Union, Aleksei Bogdanov, Head of the Central Office for Foreign Economic Activities of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, told the media at a press conference on 26 August, BelTA has learned.

“We are working to obtain permits to supply potatoes to the European Union. We are determined to carry through our dialogue with the appropriate European services. We also seek access to the EU market for Belarusian poultry meat and want to get the permit for the transit of this meat through the territory of the EU to ports for the further export. Besides, we keep working on launching deliveries of Belarusian beef to the EU, however, this is a long process that might take three to five years,” Aleksei Bogdanov said.

In H1 2019, the export of Belarusian agricultural products and foodstuffs to the EU member states rose 22% over the same period a year before. “We shipped $92.7 million worth of products. Lithuania tops this list with $30 million. Poland goes second ($23 million) and Germany third,” the official said.
