MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) - Belarus is keen to strengthen trade and economic cooperation with Russia's Ingushetia, Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Alesya Abramenko said at a meeting with a delegation of Ingushetia headed by Ingushetia's Deputy Prime Minister Yusup Zurabov on 12 December, BelTA has learned.
According to Alesya Abramenko, there is significant potential for bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Ingushetia. “First of all, we see great potential in mechanical engineering. Our enterprises are willing to scale up the supply of machinery to the region and provide its maintenance. We are interested in more active cooperation in cargo transportation. The transit corridor through Ingushetia will help increase the traffic of Belarusian goods to Iran, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. Certainly, in the current conditions initiatives in tourism are of particular importance. We have all the opportunities to implement these proposals," she stated.
In turn, Yusup Zurabov expressed interest in training young specialists at Belarusian universities for the needs of the region's economy and in opening Belarusian trading houses in Ingushetia. He also suggested setting up a joint production of furniture made of local raw materials in Ingushetia.
The parties discussed the business doing conditions in Belarus and Ingushetia and attracting investments in the country and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
