MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia’s Bashkortostan are committed to ensuring continued growth of trade, chairman of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim Andrei Rybakov, who oversees the interaction with this Russian region, told the media BelTA has learned.

"The working group on cooperation will hold a meeting today as Minsk is hosting the head of Bashkortostan, members of the government and business circles. The growth of trade is obvious. So far, these are preliminary data, but I am sure that when final statistics are released, the figures will be even higher. Today, we must lay the groundwork for the continued growth this year. A number of joint projects are already underway, both with the participation of Belarusian business in Bashkortostan and vice versa. Our task today is to discuss all aspects and try to shorten the deadlines for these big projects," Andrei Rybakov said.

According to him, there are serious advancements in mechanical engineering, machine tool building. Issues of cooperation in the field of agriculture will also be on the agenda.

Belarus is an important strategic partner, said Rustam Muratov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Bashkortostan - Minister of Economic Development and Investment Policy. "We are cooperating across more than 100 areas outlined in the roadmap. The potential is enormous. Belarus is a treasure trove of competencies. Taking into account the infrastructure and needs of the Russian market, this is an excellent symbiosis, which will definitely lead to great results. We work both in the field of agriculture and manufacturing industry. There are many other areas of cooperation - humanitarian, sociological, cultural," he stressed.

Rustam Muratov also added that the tenth edition of the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, which will be hosted by Ufa in June, will showcase specific examples of effective cooperation between Belarus and Bashkortostan.

Following today's meeting of the working group, a cooperation agreement will be signed between Gomel Casting and Normal Plant and the Ministry of Agriculture of Bashkortostan.
