Belarus, Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast sign joint action plan for 2022-2024

Belarus, Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast sign joint action plan for 2022-2024

MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast have signed a plan of joint actions for 2022-2024, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry.

First Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Lyakhnovich and Governor of Astrakhan Oblast Igor Babushkin signed the implementation plan of the current agreement at the meeting of the working group on cooperation.

“We consider Astrakhan Oblast as a consistent and reliable partner. We have significant economic potential for further development of mutually beneficial relations. Moreover, the signed action plan for 2022-2024 will give a new impetus to the bilateral cooperation and let us identify steps to further deepen cooperation in the most significant and strategic areas,” said Aleksei Lyakhnovich.

According to Igor Babushkin, Astrakhan Oblast and Belarus maintain contacts through relevant ministries and departments and create conditions to increase mutual trade. “We are interested in developing further all-round cooperation with Belarus. The Astrakhan Oblast Government and me personally will do our best to strengthen our ties of friendship,” he said.

The document envisages not only an exchange of experience but also concrete steps to increase the volume of goods turnover, joint activities in the agro-industrial complex and the use of innovative technologies. “In particular, the document reflects the transfer of Belarus' experience in the organization of urban public transport system, road traffic and passenger transportation, automation of transport management and cashless fare payment, which is currently relevant for Astrakhan Oblast. Another important point will be implemented in the near future: Astrakhan specialists will study Belarusian experience of using modern technologies for production and laying of asphalt mixtures, as well as restoration of rainwater drainage systems,” the ministry said.
