MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia are working on developing the shipping of individual kinds of cargoes via transport corridors, the press service of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry told BelTA.
According to the source, the transport ministries of the two countries are working on a draft intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the development of transportation of individual kinds of cargoes via the transport corridors crossing the territory of Russia and Belarus.
A Belarusian delegation led by First Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Lyakhnovich met with Governor of Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast Igor Babushkin on 25 March. Representatives of the production sector and the private sector were also present during the meeting.
Aleksei Lyakhnovich said: “Today’s visit is important for looking for ways to use the transport and logistics infrastructure of Russian ports for exporting Belarusian cargoes to markets of countries near the Caspian Sea. Belarus and Russia face the need to work out new logistics schemes, including thanks to stronger interaction between the countries.”
