Belarus, Russia urged to restore pre-COVID-19 level of transportation service

Belarus, Russia urged to restore pre-COVID-19 level of transportation service

MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia need to restore the pre-COVID-19 level of transportation service, Belarus’ Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a delegations-level meeting with Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin on 16 April, BelTA has learned.

“Of course, the progress in restoring the free movement across the Belarus-Russia border is rather slow, which impedes economic processes. Therefore, it is necessary to return to a normal, pre-COVID-19 mode of transport communication with allowances made for the pandemic and taking into account health and safety measures. Perhaps, we could consider resuming business travel to begin with. This will give an additional impetus to inter-regional contacts and send a good message to the business community,” Roman Golovchenko said.

He emphasized the importance of the project to produce Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine in Belarus. “I want to thank you for your constant support of this project and the decisions made to launch this production in Belarus as soon as possible. Of course, I would like all other issues to be resolved just as quickly. I am convinced that such an approach will lead to a positive result on all our joint projects,” the prime minister emphasized.
