MOGILEV, 12 May (BelTA) – The balance of Belarus-Russia trade remains stable in physical terms. Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev made the statement during the session of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Mogilev on 12 May, BelTA has learned.
Dmitry Medvedev noted: “Results of trade and economic cooperation are on the agenda. We can see both negative and positive aspects. In 2015 Russia’s share in Belarus’ trade rose by nearly 2% while Belarus’ share rose by about 1%. It is quite a good result that testifies that the two economies are growing together.”
The Prime Minister of Russia stated that Belarus-Russia trade has been falling in cost terms in the last few years. “But the figures have been falling in U.S. dollar terms due to perfectly understandable reasons connected with the weakening of the national currencies due to different prices for energy resources. Other reasons were at play, too, but, on the whole, the balance remains rather stable in natural terms,” stressed the Prime Minister of Russia.
