MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) - The trade between Belarus and Russia in January-September 2023 amounted to $35.5 billion, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Valery Belsky said during a meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission on interregional cooperation of the Council of the Republic and the Federation Council, BelTA has learned.
"In January-September of this year, the trade between Belarus and Russia hit $35.5 billion, which was almost up by 11% year-on-year, when mutual trade broke all records. But, as the say, sky is the limit for our governments and enterprises as they are continuously working to bolster trade even more," Valery Belsky said.
According to him, industrial enterprises of Belarus continue to implement investment projects including with the use of credit funds of the Russian Federation.
"The enterprises are primarily focused on the production of import-substituting goods, which will be in demand both in Belarus and in Russia. The focus of our heads of state and government is the further development of cooperation and new joint projects. The annual Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia makes a worthy contribution to the overall momentum," he stressed.
Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova and Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Yuri Vorobyov held a meeting in the run-up to the meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission on interregional cooperation of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
