Belarus, Russia to sign agreement on common rules of competition

MINSK, 7 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia are set to sign an agreement on common rules of competition, Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia Maksim Shaskolsky told the media on the sidelines of the international conference marking the 30th anniversary of antitrust regulation in Belarus on 7 September, BelTA has learned.

“At a bilateral meeting with the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of Belarus we discussed the current situation, our cooperation over the past year, and measures that were taken by antimonopoly authorities in connection with the economic situation in our countries. In the near future we will sign an agreement on common rules of competition that will help us synchronize antimonopoly legislation. We have already been working quite synchronously and are happy with the interaction with Belarus,” said Maksim Shaskolsky.

The international conference in Minsk is attended by representatives of antimonopoly authorities of the CIS member states. They are discussing the development of competition in the digital era, all pros and cons of introducing a parallel import mechanism, as well as measures applied by antimonopoly authorities in price regulation.

In addition, the 53rd meeting of the Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy of CIS Member States and the 39th meeting of the Headquarters for Joint Investigations of Antimonopoly Law Violations in the CIS are scheduled to take place.
