MOSCOW, 21 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian Defense Ministry and the Russian Defense Ministry will prepare an agreement on exchange of information about promising technologies, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on 21 October after a session of the joint board of the Defense Ministries of Belarus and Russia in Moscow, BelTA has learned.
“We have decided to establish cooperation in innovation technologies. To achieve this, we will prepare an agreement on exchange of information about promising technologies and products,” Sergei Shoigu noted.
He said that the plan for cooperation between the Defense Ministries of Belarus and Russia for 2016 adopted at the session includes over 120 events. Besides, the participants of the session approved a Belarus-Russia joint action plan in defense matters for 2016-2018. According to Sergei Shoigu, it is aimed at developing the military organization of the Union State, establishing a reliable mechanism for its armed protection.
The Minister said that the meeting also discussed the progress in the implementation of the agreement on the joint protection of the external border, and considered the further improvement of the electronic warfare system.
"The joint board of the Defense Ministries of Russia and Belarus greatly contributes to the further integration of our armed forces," said Sergei Shoigu. “The decisions we take are aimed at strengthening the security of the Union State and increasing the capacities to respond to modern challenges and threats,” the Minister added.
