MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Anatoly Rusetsky took part in a session of the organizing committee of the second Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia that will take place in the Russian city of Veliky Novgorod on 17-18 September 2015, the press service of the upper chamber of the Belarus parliament told BelTA.
The Russian side was represented by Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Yuri Vorobyov and Novgorod Oblast Governor Sergei Mitin.
A number of decisions were made as a result of the session. The sides agreed on the format for holding the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. In particular, the event will include a plenary session on common approaches and regional aspects of the industrial policy of the Union State of Belarus and Russia and three panel sessions. The panel sessions are meant to unearth existing hindrances for pursuing a coordinated mutually beneficial industrial policy and work out solutions for overcoming the hindrances. Apart from that, an exhibition of industrial products and R&D accomplishments will be held as well as a trade show. There are plans to adopt a resulting document and sign a number of agreements and contracts, said representatives of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus.
According to the Russian side, as many as 41 constituent entities of the Russian Federation have tentatively agreed to take part in the forum.
There are plans to invite representatives of the Russian and Belarusian governments to take part in the forum taking into account the event’s topicality and importance.
The first Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia took place in Minsk in June 2014. It was focused on the effective development of the agribusiness complexes of Belarus and Russia as a vital condition of food security of the Union State.
