Belarus, Russia continue negotiations on gas price to be applicable as from 2020

OSTROVETS DISTRICT, 21 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia continue the negotiations on the Russian gas price for Belarus which will apply as from 2020, Belarusian Energy Minister Vladimir Potupchik told the media on the sidelines of the session of the ministry’s board on 21 February, BelTA has learned.

“We continue the talks at the high level. With every new meeting we get closer to the understanding of how to address these issues,” the minister said.

Vladimir Potupchik noted that this is not an easy job. However, the parties have time to agree. “We have agreed on the gas price for Belarus in 2018-2019. We still have time to decide on the price for the period from 2020 to 2025 (before the common gas market in the Eurasian Economic Union is set up)," he added.

“There are no problems or contradictions here. The most important thing for us is to adopt these decisions,” Vladimir Potupchik said.
