MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) - Belarus is interested in taking part in the modernization of industrial enterprises in Egypt. The matter was discussed during a videoconference held by co-chairpersons of the Belarusian-Egyptian joint trade commission - Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) of Belarus Vladimir Koltovich and Minister of Trade and Industry of Egypt Nevin Gamea, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian ministry.
The parties exchanged information about the social and economic situation in Belarus and Egypt, discussed the key issues of cooperation. Among them was the possible registration of the Belarusian steel mill BMZ as a supplier of reinforcing bar to the Egyptian market, as well as the promotion of joint products of the production facilities, placed in Egypt, to the markets of African countries.
It was noted that Belarus supports efforts to prepare an agreement on free trade between Egypt and the Eurasian Economic Union, of which Belarus is a member.
“The parties have worked out a mechanism for the practical implementation of the issue related to Belarus’ participation in the modernization of industrial enterprises in Egypt. The parties have agreed to obtain a certificate from the Egyptian side on the achieved level of localization of the assembly line of MAZ automotive equipment. The parties have also agreed that Egypt will revisit the issue of registration of BMZ as a supplier of rebar,” said the press service.
