Belarus ready to intensify all-round cooperation with Russia’s Yakutia

MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) - Belarus is ready to intensify cooperation with Yakutia in many areas, Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Alesya Abramenko said at a meeting of the joint working group on cooperation between Belarus and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) of the Russian Federation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

The web-based event was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Andrei Fedotov, representatives of government and business bodies of Belarus and Yakutia. The meeting reviewed the trade and economic cooperation over the past year and their current state, the status of the agreement on trade, economic and cultural cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) of the Russian Federation and the Government of Belarus (in 2021-2024). A separate item on the agenda was the intensification of cooperation in industry, agriculture, construction and transport.

In her speech, Alesya Abramenko noted that in January-May, mutual trade increased more than five times as against the same period a year earlier. "This eloquently shows that our Yakutia partners are interested in high-quality Belarusian industrial and food products.  We have something to offer in this regard. There are also opportunities to expand the export of services," she stated.

The meeting participants discussed in detail the prospects for creating a maintenance center and a consignment warehouse for BelAZ spare parts in Yakutia, the possibility of supplying Belarusian milk powder and equipment for local dairy farms, and the development of direct flights. The parties also expressed mutual interest in sharing best practices and training of personnel for the Republic of Sakha in livestock breeding, in promoting cooperation in the development of unmanned aerial vehicles, reforestation and prevention of forest fires.
