MOSCOW, 9 June (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to help Russia with potato supplies, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Aleksei Bogdanov during the Belarusian-Asian Forum on 9 June.
The official made a few comments in response to a recent statement by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko, who said Russia was discussing the possibility of buying potatoes in Belarus in order to stabilize prices on the domestic market. Aleksei Bogdanov said: “If they want some, we will surely oblige. Belarus always lends its shoulder to Russia. They help us out in many matters. We will cooperate in this regard, too.”
The official said that a meeting at the level of deputy ministers is supposed to take place in the Russian Agriculture Ministry later that day. “We may discuss these matters there, too. At least I’ve brought contacts for this work with me,” he noted.
“Belarus is ready to help with this matter if it is truly necessary,” the deputy agriculture and food minister concluded.
