MINSK, 31 January (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to take part in the renewal of Armenia’s passenger transport fleet and suggests launching joint production of lifts in Armenia. The matters were discussed at a meeting between Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko and Armenia’s Ambassador to Belarus Armen Ghevondyan on 31 January, BelTA has learned.
According to the speaker, the Belarusian-Armenian trade has been steadily growing. He expressed confidence that the parties need to go to a higher level of cooperation and set up joint ventures. “Belarus is ready to take part in the renewal of the passenger transport fleet of Armenia and also in its lift renewal program,” Vladimir Andreichenko said. A delegation of the Mogilevliftmash plant plans to visit Armenia in the near future. According to the chairman of the House of Representatives, Belarus hopes to come to a decision on setting up a joint manufacturing plant in Armenia.
Belarus is interested in strengthening and developing cooperation with Armenia. The inter-parliamentary commission will make its contribution to the matter. The House of Representatives hopes that the commission will hold its next meeting in H2 2019. According to the speaker, MPs can update the agenda of interregional cooperation. The speaker expressed hope that the work on the agreement on establishing twinning relations between Minsk and Yerevan will be accelerated.
Armen Ghevondyan stated that he is ready to support the development of the whole range of bilateral relations, including the political dialogue, economic cooperation, humanitarian contacts. The ambassador sees great prospects for cooperation, the implementation of joint projects, including, taking into account the opportunities of the Eurasian Economic Union, in the CIS.
