MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) - Belarus has completed the ratification of the agreement with Russia on common principles of indirect taxes. Corresponding Law No. 244-3 of 12 January 2023 was published on the National Legal Internet Portal, BelTA has learned.
The agreement was signed in Moscow on 3 October 2022 with the aim to harmonize the tax legislation of the Union State member states.
The document has been worked out with a view to deepening economic cooperation, eliminating tax barriers in mutual trade and investment, promoting systematic cooperation and mutual assistance of tax authorities of the countries in preventing indirect tax evasion, including in cross-border trade.
The document defines common approaches to the tax policy of Belarus and Russia with regard to indirect taxation.
In particular, it provides for the establishment of a supranational tax committee, which will monitor the parties’ compliance with the agreements.
The Council of Ministers is set to take steps to bring legislation in line with the provisions of the agreement, as well as other measures necessary to implement its provisions.
