MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ Trade Minister Vladimir Koltovich met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Qatar to Russia with concurrent accreditation to Belarus Soud bin Abdullah Zaid Al-Mahmoud on 5 February, BelTA learnt from the Trade Ministry of Belarus.
“The parties considered a number of proposals regarding the third meeting of Belarus-Qatar Joint Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation scheduled for 25-26 April 2016. The committee is expected to sign a number of bilateral documents,” the ministry said. The parties also discussed the ways to strengthen and intensify bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic fields.
“It was mentioned at the meeting that the economies of Belarus and Qatar had a big potential in increasing mutual trade,” the Trade Ministry said. The Belarusian side expressed interest in expanding areas of investment cooperation. There was also suggested to look into the possibility of increasing the supplies of trucks, goods of woodworking and light industries, food products and cosmetics to Qatar.
“Vladimir Koltovich noted that Belarus, keeping in mind its experience, is ready to join Qatar's infrastructure projects in the preparation for the World Cup 2022,” the ministry added.
Qatar’s Ambassador Soud bin Abdullah Zaid Al-Mahmoud expressed readiness to provide assistance in developing bilateral relations, in particular in the preparation for the third meeting of the Joint Committee, an exchange of visits between businessmen with a view to enhancing bilateral relations.
