MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) - Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov visited New York on 4 April. As a special guest he took part in the 3rd Sustainable Energy for All forum. The deputy foreign minister presented Belarus’ initiatives on boosting multilateral cooperation in energy efficiency, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
Valentin Rybakov spoke about the Belarusian activity in energy industry and international cooperation in this matter. The Belarusian diplomat spoke at length about Belarusian initiatives on stepping up multilateral cooperation in energy efficiency with a focus on access to advanced energy technologies, the press service remarked.
The deputy foreign minister noted that energy industry is gaining more and more importance in terms of fulfilling the Agenda for Sustainable Development. Governments, business community and other parties should unite their efforts in order to ensure access to environmentally sound sources of energy and relevant technologies.
The New York forum was held by the non-governmental organization Sustainable Energy for All headquartered in Vienna. The organization serves as a coordinating platform for governments, business community, financial experts, and civil society and draws their attention to the goal of ensuring access to sustainable energy for all. This goal corresponds to the 7th Sustainable Development Goal (affordable and clean energy). The organization sees its task in raising investment in order to enhance the access to sources of energy, boost energy efficiency and promote renewable energy.
