Belarus, Portugal to expand economic cooperation

MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Portugal plan to expand trade and economic cooperation. The matter was discussed at a meeting between Belarus’ Ambassador to France with concurrent accreditation to Portugal Pavel Latushko and Portugal President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. The meeting was held as part of the official ceremony to welcome foreign ambassadors during the celebrations of Portugal Day, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in France.

Pavel Latushko updated the Portuguese head of state about the plans to expand bilateral trade and economic cooperation and the preparations for the Belarusian-Portuguese business forum in Lisbon. He also spoke about the results of the political consultations that were held between the representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs of the two states in March 2017 and also about the international art project From Lisbon via Minsk, Moscow, Astana to Vladivostok that will be showcased in Lisbon.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa expressed gratitude to Belarus for the organization of the international art project From Lisbon via Minsk, Moscow, Astana to Vladivostok and noted that it contributes to the common cultural space that unites representatives of different countries and nations.

Pavel Latushko also held a meeting with Portugal’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Augusto Santos Silva. The parties agreed to organize a round of the Belarusian-Portuguese consultations at the level of the deputy ministers of foreign affairs of the two countries.
